It is always a pleasure filming a wedding at Peckforton Castle, but Jayne & Steve’s wedding was just that bit extra magical as it was just before Christmas and they had a winter wonderland theme! Steve proposed to Jayne on New Year’s Eve just before midnight at a ball dressed as Prince Charming, so there was no other option but to choose a fairy-tale wedding in a Castle. It was also great to be filming alongside Caroline White once again.
Jayne chose a stunning Suzanne Neville dress, with Swarovski crystal jewel detailing around the waist, which beautifully complimented the diamond jewellery that she wore including the fabulous earrings which were a surprise gift from Steve. How sweet is Steve, they are so matched for each other that they even bought each other the same wedding card.
Jayne got ready with her daughter and niece who were her bridesmaids and one of her friends did her hair and makeup artist Richard Harvey did her makeup and finished and decorated her hair. Steve wore an elegant Phillip Alexander tailor made suit and the groom’s party wore matching tuxedos, they all looked very dapper. The guests congregated in the Long Gallery before the start of the ceremony and toastmaster Steven Saunders announced them into the Great Hall for the start of the wedding.
When Jayne’s dad saw her in the dress of the first time he couldn’t stop crying and it was such a lovely moment to capture forever. He was still crying as he waited to accompany Jayne down the aisle. A wedding singer hidden on the minstrel’s gallery serenaded them down the aisle to Leona Lewis’ – ‘A moment like this’, Jayne & Steve’s song. During the ceremony Jayne & Steve couldn’t stop beaming at each other. Steve ever the romantic had written an extraordinary reading for Jayne, which had everyone crying even more and the singer performed another song.
After the ceremony there was a drinks reception in the Long Gallery. Luckily it stopped raining and we were able to go outside to get a couple of quick shots in front of the Castle. It was then time for the wedding breakfast in the Drawing Room. The table names were different brands of Champagne and as it was Christmas the name plates were luxury crackers. There was another especially written poem during the speeches written by one of their good friends, all about how they met, the proposal and their fairy-tale Castle wedding.
Jayne & Steve wanted their wedding reception to be extra special and something that no one had seen before. So they had an events company transform the Great Hall into an enchanted winter wonderland. Every surface was covered with fake snow; they brought in huge Christmas trees and all different types of props including skis and a sledge. The ceiling was lit up with snow flake shapes and on the back wall Jayne & Steve’s entwined initials. There was a huge Cinderella pumpkin carriage ice sculpture by the amazing Glacial Art. There was even an all-white Chesterfield sofa chill out seating area were guests could relax, all while the snow continuously fell from the sky.
Guests filed into the Great Hall to a rendition of Michael Bublé’s – ‘It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas’ performed by a first class Michael Bublé impersonator and his orchestra. Everyone was in awe of the transformation, Jayne & Steve had managed to keep it a complete surprise. The kids especially loved the snow, making snow angels and having snowball fights. Jayne & Steve executed an impressive choreographed first dance routine to Michael Bublé – ‘All I want for Christmas is you’ and it ended in a shower of snow and confetti. Everyone then danced the night away to a mixture of Christmas and Michael Bublé tracks.
